German shepherd in spite of descent from herding blood lines with characteristic suspicion and aggression is incredible intelligent and loving breed and considered as ideal family pet. They in general eager to do everything to please his master.

1. Size and appearance -  German Shepherd dog has been characterized as medium breed with height ranging from 22-26 inches and weight 65-95 Lbs.
2. Personality – Extremely intelligent, confident, hard working, loyal and trainable. Though there are some controversy whether it is easily trainable or not but most vote goes to easy trainability. Besides family pet they are used mostly by police and military as guard dog as well as used for rescue and tracking mission.
3. Relationship with owner - They are highly agile and endure toughest climatic condition therefore, highly appreciated as family pet from all over the globe. They are excellent companion to children and by instinct an excellent natural protector to family.
4. Training – Like all other breed German shepherd dog’s training should be started early in life . Best time is to start from 3-4 months. Training this time should not be harsh but should be “learning through playing”. Having the herding instinct an untrained, unsocilized GSD is quite difficult to control. Total training process is time consuming and demands every day exercise. Depending on dog’s temperament and attention paying capacity and mood basic training may needs few weeks to months. Patience and perseverance is the main point a trainer should have to train a German shepherd.
5. Health and ailments - German Shepherd is hard working therefore when in family he needs daily exercise. Exercise, proper nutrition and de-worming keep away vet.
