German shepherd dog, also known as Alsatian, originated in Karlsruhe in Germany by the effort of Max von Stephanitz and other breeders. It is relatively new bread and originated in 1899, derived from the different old breeds of herding dogs.
On 1907 American people was first introduced with this bread. After Second World War due to anti German sentiment this bread was renamed “Alsatian Wolf Dog’ by UK cannel club later it has been famous as “Alsatian dog”. Because of its agility, intelligence, loyalty and obedience and the fame associated with animal actors Rin-Tin-Tin and Strongheart it was very soon become family companion.
This breed is muscular, loyal, energetic and fun loving. It is one of the best breed known for its fondness toward children. German shepherd dog belongs to “working group” and now highly appreciated world wide for its role in police and military.
