Avoid These 7 Mistakes When You Feed German Shepherd Dog

> Never feed your German shepherd dog chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, macadamia nuts, these can be toxic to your dog. Don’t fee him highly spiced, oily and salty foods. Spicy or junk food could lead to stomach upset.

> Don’t rely on artificial dog food just by watching or hearing advertisement.

> If you think of shifting from one food habit to another one just don’t go for all of a sudden. Mix food so that new one comprises 1/4 and the usual one is ¾ of the quantity. Follow this ratio for one week and then every week gradually increase the portion of the new one while reducing the old one. In final week feed him the food with 75% new one with 25% old. This method decreases the chance of digestion problems.

> Effect of nutrition on health takes long time to be visible so if you start a feeding new food wait at least six week to evaluate the effect.

> Don’t feed your dog every time you take your food. This will lead to begging and even stilling. This could make you embarrassed when guest comes in your home for a visit.

> German shepherd has powerful jaws and can crack and swallow smaller bones that could lead to chocking and scratch in gastrointestinal tract. So be careful while giving any bones.

> To stay away from any digestive problem don’t let him/her drink water from all water sources. On a trip carry your dog food and water from home.
